My approach
My theoretical approach to therapy is a melding of psychodynamic, relational, attachment and cognitive-behavioral theories. What this means is that I strive to create an environment that allows you and me to collaborate in identifying conscious and unconscious aspects of yourself that may be impairing your ability to have a healthy, satisfying life. It also means that I actively use the therapeutic relationship to better know how we might be playing out some of the same unhealthy patterns in the consulting room. I also draw upon Buddhist psychology which greatly informs my work with my self and my clients. By slowing things down, and becoming more mindful of how we think and feel, we are more likely to have greater emotional awareness, flexibility and choice.
